Top 10 Co-op Games of 2015

July 1, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here are the top ten co-op games of 2015 for the PC, Xbox One, PS4, and other platforms.

We're big fans of co-op games over here, and thankfully the industry's managed to provide us with a number of great cooperative experiences to play this year for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Vita!

As such, we've put together a list of games that have been released, or are set to be released later this year. This list includes both local and online co-op games. Keep in mind that the games that aren't out yet on this list are rather speculative entries on our part.

10. Magicka 2

  • Release: May 26, 2015
  • PS4, PC Linux
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: 4 Players

Magicka 2 offers much more of the hectic four-person co-op action as its predecessor. Players cast all manner of spells to vanquish the forces of evil and even mess up themselves in the process.

9. Overlord: Fellowship of Evil

  • Release: Q4 2015
  • PS4, Xbox One, PC
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: 4 Players

What we've seen of Overlord: Fellowship of Evil looks like a promising take on the four-player co-op genre popularized by Magicka and Helldivers.

8. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide

  • Release: Q3 2015
  • PC, PS4, Xbox One
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: None

Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is a cooperative first-person shooter similar to Left 4 Dead, with players taking on the roles of various Warhammer Fantasy character classes to take on the tide of Skaven.

7. Helldivers

  • Release: March 3 2015
  • PS4, PS4, PS Vita
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: 4 Players
  • BUY

Helldivers is a scifi cooperative action game from the makers of Magicka. Up to four players armed with shotguns, rifles, and all manner of futuristic armaments take on alien forces throughout procedurally generated missions.

6. Bloodborne

  • Release: Mar 24, 2015
  • PS4
  • Online Coop: 3 Players
  • Local Coop: None
  • BUY

Up to three players can team up in Bloodborne to take on the game's various challenges. The only real difficulty in doing that is getting everyone to meet in the same area and using a summoning bell.

5. Dying Light

  • Release: Jan 27, 2015
  • PS4, Xbox One, PC, Linux
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: None
  • BUY

Up to four players can team up in this post-apocalyptic zombie-infested city. Players navigate by freerunning across rooftops and on the ground and completing missions together. The only thing in the game that isn't co-op is the game's final mission.

4. Killing Floor 2

  • Release: April 21, 2015
  • PS4, PC, Linux
  • Online Coop: 6/4 Players
  • Local Coop: 4 Players
  • BUY

Love horde mode? Then you'll probably love Killing Floor 2, which lets players team up to take on swarms of enemy monsters.

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

  • Release: Nov 6, 2015
  • PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: 2 Players
  • BUY

Black Ops 3 is a true return to form for the Call of Duty series that featured co-op in World at War, allowing up to four players to complete the entire game in co-op mode.

2. Halo 5: Guardians

  • Release: Oct 27, 2015
  • Xbox One
  • Online Coop: 4 Players
  • Local Coop: None
  • BUY

This list would be amiss without the inclusion of Halo 5, which like its predecessors features a dedicated co-op mode, this time with support for up to four players.

1. Star Wars: Battlefront

  • Release: Nov 17, 2015
  • PS4, Xbox One, PC
  • Online Coop: 2 Players
  • Local Coop: 2 Players
  • BUY

Co-op mode is new for DICE, but we're confident that they can pull it off in their form of horde mode, which supports up to two players against waves of enemies that change depending on the map you're on.
