Evolution of PC Gaming Hardware

November 9, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

PC gaming hardware has evolved over the ages. We explore how it’s improved over the years.

PC gaming has changed a lot over the ages. From text-based adventures and wireframes in the 1980s, to sprite-based graphics, and finally to 3D, PC gaming has come a long way.

Computer hardware has facilitated these changes throughout the development of PC gaming through innovations like 3D graphics cards, better CPUs, and faster RAM, among many other things.

We've put together a new video documentary to offer a look at the evolution of early computers to today's state-of-the-art powerhouses designed to drive the latest and greatest games, including Fallout 4 and the upcoming Doom.

PC gaming hardware has come a long way. It grows every year and supports a loyal fanbase that's always eager to play better and better games. So let's break it all down right from the beginning.
