If anyone has yet to be convinced of the power offered by engines like the CryEngine or the Unreal Engine, these mashups of older games resurrected in current and next generation engines should be more than enough to make you pause for thought.

All of the examples showcased in this list were lovingly crafted by talented game developers and modders who've reimagined games in different engines. They've put the source material to excellent use and stretched the abilities of the engines to their limits with their efforts.

There's little doubt that these developers can look forward to inboxes stuffed full of job offers from prospective game studios if they aren't already in the industry.
