There are a few new gadgets which are all available from the D-pad, with several having quick-fire moves for use in combat. This is the only bit that skirts closest to over-complication. Left Trigger + Y for Batclaw is fair enough, but double-tapping Right Trigger for Freeze Grenades? Luckily there are only a small number of combat gadgets and none of them have to be used in battle, so it’s merely something to master rather than an annoyance – so it’s the good side of complicated.

I agree. Video game developers need to protect their intelectual property. Though putting out half a game. Which you pay full price for and than are required to go onto PSN or XBOX Live to unlock the rest for an additional fee is more of making another way to bring in more profits. If developers want to use that system? Then don't charge full price on video games that have additional content you have to go onto PSN or XBOX Live to access.

Despite this review's headline, Batman: Arkham City confirms a train of thought that originated when I saw Batman Begins: It's not just a superhero action game, it's also an inverse-horror game. Consider this situation: Four buddies hanging out in what can be considered a haunted steel mill. They talk about mundane things like what they did earlier that day, or their bets on which local community leader-type person will ultimately gain control of the area. In the tradition of horror movies, they stupidly split up. One of them hears a strange whooshing noise and runs off to investigate. One glimpses the quick movement of shadow around the corner. Then things get weirder.
