There are problems with Dog Days, but they're all minor ones. There's a certain slippiness in the way the characters animate and attach themselves to cover, and your avatar will occasionally require a prod with the analog stick to detach him from some useless wall or bench. AI dogs suffer worst from this lack of precision, and can often be dodged by nothing more complicated than strafing or circling. The plot also becomes less interesting as the action escalates in accordance to that unwritten rule of action games that states all action must escalate, with Kane and Lynch both struggling to maintain their grounding in humanity once helicopters and the army show.

It's this element then that will silence critics who claim that Kane and Lynch 2 is getting by on its distressed looks alone. The main campaign is gritty and, for all its faults, exciting stuff - but the multiplayer mode demonstrates a near peerless mix of explosive action and prickly psychological warfare. In short: Kane and Lynch 2 is a vast improvement over the original and a multiplayer must.

As a package however, Kane & Lynch 2 is pretty well-accomplished, with its multiplayer in particular worthy of high praise. That it also brings something unique to the table with its visuals makes the relatively skimpy narrative worthwhile, and it's entirely possible that it could inspire imitators in the future.
