Final Fantasy XIII-2 is more than just a follow-up to the original FF13. It offers everything from capture-able monsters to character customization well beyond anything the first game had to offer.
In addition to various forms of customization, you can equip your characters with a variety of armaments and weapons—some of which are 'secret'. These secret weapons are a lot more difficult to acquire than regular ones and require that you perform certain actions in order to get them.
Here's a... More »
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is finally out and unlike its predecessor, it's a much more open ended game. Offering large, open spaces instead of cramped hallways, the sequel is everything the original game should've been.
Every large open space in the game is populated with monsters, some of which are rare, all of which the player must do battle with. These monsters—both rare and normal varieties—can be captured by the player. They can then be summoned in future battles as allies. To first capture... More »

The PlayStation Network may be in for a name change this week, leaving behind the PSN and taking on the SEN, Sony Entertainment Network. This was supposedly emailed to Neogaf user Psycotik, although at this point the email is still unverified. The idea of dropping the name "PlayStation Network" has sparked the theory that Sony may plan to drop the PlayStation name in future consoles, although that would seem backward with the fact that the Vita is not yet out in the west and definitely belongs to the PlayStation... With the recent announcement by Valve that Steam will soon be available on both iOS and Android devices, we are moving a step further into a gaming world where platform seems to matter less and less. Granted that as of now, this Steam app only exists for purchasing Steam games for PC/Mac on the go and keeping in touch with the community while on the move, it’s not yet the be all end all app to see gaming platforms ceasing to matter all together, but it is an indicator that this might indeed be the case at some point in... Stephen "StepTo" Toulouse, director of Xbox Live policy and enforcement, has announced that he'll be resigning his position on February 15.
Toulouse, known to millions of Xbox Live hackers as "that guy who wouldn't unban me," has spent nearly 18 as a Microsoft employee, beginning at the spry age of 21 back in 1994. He worked as head of communications for their Security Response Center before joining the Xbox Live Services division in 2007.
In a post on his personal blog, Toulouse... More »
Valve has quite the year planned for Team Fortress 2, their popular class-based, free-to-play shooter. They've outlined some of the planned updates in a new post on the game's official blog.
The biggest news by far? The long awaited conclusion to the "Meet the Team" series of promotional shorts, featuring the voiceless, genderless enigma that is the Pyro. Will we finally get to see what's beneath that lumpy asbestos suit? Will we finally learn if he/she/it is a boy/girl/robot? Probably not,... More »
Hey guys, it's Friday! Got anything on the go this weekend? I don't mean to brag, but I'm going to see Jerry Seinfeld this weekend. How can I possibly top that, at this very moment? Well, what about Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots in Minecraft!? OK, maybe it doesn't top that, but what a better way to celebrate the end of a work day!
Master Builder, Sethbling, has recreated the classic two-player robot, face punching, battle-fest in Minecraft using a pressure plate mechanic to simulate the battles of... More »
Soul Calibur 5 is out, and far from looking like some generic fighting game, it's full of style and flair thanks to its medieval-inspired aesthetics.
Every fighter in the game has a speical attack called a Critical Edge, all of which can be seen in the video above, which was taken by LANDAN2006 on YouTube. These special attacks are visually astonishing and make full use of the game's graphics engine.
Among the fighters featured in the video are Ezio Auditore, who doesn't look out of place in the... More »

Gaming has long since moved into the space of releases where, just like with movies, classics (well and those titles that wish they were) are being re-released on different, new platforms some years after their initial releases with some tweaks and updates. God of War came first, being re-released in HD for the PlayStation 3, as did a number of Ubisoft games.
Now there's another title coming up for a PC release, a game that spent quite a while in development hell before being released for the Xbox360 exclusively... More »
Both Mass Effect 1 and 2 have save games to be carried over to the next game. Each of these saves contains various flags—such as "Wrex is alive" and "Council was saved" to be read by the proceeding game which determine the events that happened in Shepard's past. The events of past games are reflected in the new game, where they alter the course of the story.
Speaking to GamerZines, Bioware associate producer Mike Gamble said "it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep your Mass Effect 3... More »
Speaking at an investor call, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick boasted that the company has "never been in better shape" and referring to the likes of Grand Theft Auto V, that it "never had more important franchises."
Zelnick stressed that the company was ready for next-gen development, but cautioned that it had to be thoughtful about how it managed its portfolio with new platforms due to the low install base.
He compared the birth of new platforms to the process of natural... More »
