EA Teams Up with Monster to Create Own Line of Gaming Headsets

January 8, 2013 by Alex Co

EA is entering the competitive headphone market with MVP Carbon…

Electronic Arts (EA), publisher of games such as Mass Effect, Battlefield 3, Madden and more, will be entering the gaming headset market with the release of MVP Carbon.

EA won't be going at it alone however, as it has partnered up with Monster, the same company that made the Beats by Dre line of headphones. This first-ever foray into gaming headsets by EA and Monster won't come cheap, as the MVP Carbon will be sold at retail for $269.95.

So, what does all that bread get you? 5.1 channel surround processing Monster calls "HDHS" or in layman terms mean "High Definition Headphone Surround." along with an in-game mic, and "Monster’s latest and most sophisticated on-ear 30MM driver design for gaming and music. In conjunction with this, they incorporate the Gamebox, a powerful new type of mix amplifier and processor specifically engineered for Monster HDHS.

If you're a multi-platform gamer, then this should be right up your alley, as the MVP Carbon supports the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and the Wii U. It will come in white and black variants, and will be available at retail starting next month.

Will any of you take the plunge in a EA-branded headset or is it just a tad too pricey?

Thanks, Polygon
