PAX East Schedule Is Available Online

March 6, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

For a show like the Penny Arcade Expo, you need to have a plan of attack.

PAX East has just released its schedule online. And every attendee owes it him or herself to take a good look in advance, because there is a lot going on.

So we're here to help. The following are just a few of the more notable panels that's happening those three days:

FRIDAY

World of Capcom – A number of producers and product managers will share details pertaining to various upcoming games, including Remember Me, Lost Planet 3, and Resident Evil: Revelations. Though most noteworthy of all is how two new games will be announced.

Games Journalism in the Age of Independence – Game journalists sharing what it's like to be in their shoes, to provide insight and pointers for those who are interested in a similar career path, is a staple at PAX. But this particular session is especially noteworthy due to the inclusion of the very much controversial HipHopGamer.

SATURDAY

Do JRPGs Really Still Matter? – The world of Japanese role playing games has seen better times, and a number of prominent video game journalists who also share an affinity for JRPGs will discuss its current state and see what lies ahead, or if there’s even a future to being with.

Successful Kickstarters Tell You How They Did It – More and more game makers are turning towards the crowded sourced funding to help finance their projects. But not everyone is successful, so this is an excellent chance to hear from those who have done it right and get some invaluable advice.

SUNDAY

Gaming in Support of National Security – Recent years has seen the rise of “serious games”, which help to address (and possibly solve) real world problems via video games. The data that is culled from such efforts has been for everything from disaster preparedness to cyber defense, which will all be detailed in this session.

For every panel listed, there’s plenty more happening at the same time. And it’s good to make back up plans, in case you can’t access the one that you want, due to its room being filled to capacity (or if it ends up being a stinker, which happens sometimes).

And don't forget, there's also the Indie Showcase to check out as well.
