YouTuber Gets His Own Video Game Flagged by YouTube

December 16, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The content ID issues continue, as one YouTuber has just witnessed a video for a game he made flagged.

The once safe land of YouTube is continuing to become more dangerous for those wishing to monetize their product. Content ID claims have been sweeping the video service, and while there are logical discussions concerning fair use going on as speak, the latest victim of a YouTube flag has every reason to be angry.

You may have never heard of SurfShooter for the Apple 2 computer, but the man behind the above video knows it all too well. He’s the creator of this game, and somehow, a gameplay video that he recorded for it has been flagged by YouTube and rejected. He’s the author of the program, so he has every right to monetize the video. It’s a bizarre situation, and one that he’s looking to solve with YouTube as soon as possible. He’s contacted the group and is now just waiting to see what they have to say.

This is likely just a mistake, but we should have to see problems like this arise. Expect continued fallout from this YouTube debacle in the coming weeks.
