Journey E3 2011 Preview With Jenova Chen

June 7, 2011 by Jacob Saylor

Game designer Jenova Chen disclosed new details about his upcoming game Journey, exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

From acclaimed indie developer Thatgamecompany, the guys behind 'Flower', comes Journey. This game is another artsy game that focuses on giving the individual a strong emotional experience.

The screen behind the interview displaying the game showed us what Journey has in store for us. Much like Flower, the game is gorgeous; especially the sand effects involved with the game's theme. The player is meant to travel towards a distant mountain – and that's the gist of the game. Really, that's it. However, knowing Thatgamecompany, there will be much more to this journey than meets the eye.

Furthermore, the game has multiplayer functionality! You can meet with one other player per play session to help ease the burden of walking through the barren environments for so long. There will probably be more implementations for this multiplayer feature in the form of cooperative play, but for now that is all that has been revealed.

When Mr. Chen was asked about a possible release date for the game, he simply said “Hopefully sometime this year.”
