Watch Dogs Playstation Exclusive Content Will Let You Play White Hat

March 21, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Ubisoft has given Playstation owners a little extra incentive to play hero.

Ubisoft has revealed the content exclusive to the Playstation version of Watch Dogs. Among other things, there will be four missions, and this White Hat Hacker Outfit.

The missions involve the notorious hacker group DedSec. On their behalf, Aiden will take on Umeni Technologies’ security network and deliver some payback. All in all, the missions add sixty minutes’ worth of gameplay.

When they are done, the player gets bonus tech points, which can be used to buff their hacking abilities. They will also unlock for you the said White Hat Hacker outfit above. You can check out the Playstation Blog and Ubisoft posts, and watch the trailer below.

For those who didn't get it, Ubi may have gone with some wordplay with the white hat outfit. In Internet parlance, a white hat is slang for a hacker, or a computer security expert who specializes in penetration testing. In Edward De Bono's Six Thinking Hats, a book about problem solving, the white hat  among the six hats refers to information. Finally, in old film tropes, the white hat refers to the protagonist, originally a cowboy like The Lone Ranger or Tom Mix. Interesting stuff, right? One wonders if this was truly deliberate.

Watch Dogs is coming May 27 for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, as well as Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The game is also set to come to Wii U at an undetermined date.
