In a blog post on Lionhead Studios' website, the developer unveiled a new type of enemy players would encounter when they revisit Albion called the red caps in their latest entry in the Fable franchise- Fable Legends.
The developer divulged on a bit of background information on the red caps and the significance of their name to their capabilities:
One of the stranger and less imaginatively named creatures of the forest, redcaps are easily recognised by their well . . . by their red caps. Should they lose their crimson hats, or the cap lose its colour, then a redcap will die*. This threat renders this branch of forest fey both aggressive and highly wary of rain. Finding this limitation to their lifespans to be less than helpful, redcaps have taken to hammering nails into their own heads, thus securing their cap and preventing it from drying out. Fear of sudden death (added to having nails in their heads) has made redcaps a fairly psychotic bunch, prone to fits of violence and villainy.
It was also noted that these creatures are a common sight in Rosewood and can be a real danger to players who travel nearby. The people of Albion fear them so much that they avoid wearing the same colorful headgear to avoid meeting a misfortunate end at the hands of the red caps.

It is unkown whether or not the red caps will make an appearance in the game's beta when it comes out sometime this year. For now, players can sate their excitement by checking out two new gorgeous schreenshots of the game we posted recently.
