Halo: The Master Chief Collection Heading to Xbox One This Year - Report

The bundle will include Halo 1-4 but not spin-offs like ODST and Reach.

Engadget reports that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be released on Xbox One this year and include Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4.

The package will not include spin-offs such as Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach. It's unknown which studio is handling development of the game but Engadget suggests Saber Interactive, which produced Halo Anniversary and is working on an unannounced Xbox One project, is a likely candidate.

News of the package follows the announcement earlier today that Halo 5: Guardians will be released in Autumn 2015.

Not only would this allow Microsoft to fulfill its promise that Xbox One owners' Halo journey will begin this year, it would also make up for the lack of entries in the series in 2013 (the download only Spartan Assasult notwithstanding), and the release would allow players to catch up with the story.

It has been confirmed that Halo 5's mystery Spartan is an all-new character.

Microsoft has yet to comment on reports of The Master Chief Collection
