Assassin's Creed: Unity Hidden Crossbow Discovered

It's been used in an Assassin's Creed game before. On Facebook. This has been a long time coming.

It seems we have a new weapon in tow for Assassins Creed Unity.

A hidden crossbow, conveniently placed below the wrist, for shots to be release Spider-Man style. Pretty cool stuff, right?

As many fans were quick to point out, we’ve seen this weapon in an Assassins Creed game before. To be specific, in Assassins Creed: Project Legacy, Leonardo Da Vinci is commissioned to make exactly such a device by Francesco Vecellio, one of Ezio’s understudies. Ezio forbade Francesco, as a student, to use the Hidden Gun, so he had the Hidden Bolt designed as an alternative.

Assassins Creed: Project Legacy was an interesting side project for Ubisoft, a Facebook game where you retrieved genetic memories on behalf of Abstergo Industries. It helped flesh out part of Assassins Creed’s backstory, but it isn’t being actively developed today.

Now, on his own, Leonardo had also conceived of a poison dart launcher as a variation of the Hidden Gun. It would seem safe to say the Hidden Bolt can fill out the role of dart launcher more than well enough.

We would have to assume the Assassins must have developed this weapon further until the French Revolution, and it should be loads of fun to see this game finally in action in a console Assassins Creed game. If nothing else, it seems like a tool you could use for an actual assassination. Imagine that?

Assassin's Creed Unity is coming Q4 for Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
