Dragon Age 3: Inquisition: Sera’s Hair, Helmet Visibility, And Introducing Dorian

June 28, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Dorian may be the most exciting / controversial element of Inquisition yet.

We have a new batch of information for you regarding Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. You’ll learn a little bit today about party members Dorian and Sera, and also one juicy tidbit regarding gameplay.

Dorian is a mage from Tevinter, placed in a precarious position. He joins the Inquisition in opposition to what he discovers are the Tevinter mages’ plans, but is also diametrically opposed to the society in a personal level. He no longer follows his clans’ ideas of breeding the best mages, with arranged marriages and controlled childhoods. However, Dorian has no scruples using all the skills he learned as a Tevinter mage, including control of the elements and unearthly beings.

To be blunt about it, Dorian is also the first fully gay character in the Dragon Age universe. This has been incorporated into the narrative of Dorian running into conflict with the ways of his clan, but it is also bound to be one of the most controversial aspects of the game.

Sera’s character kit has been revealed for cosplayers. Among the kit notes is the revelation that Sera cut her hair with a knife, and so it ended up uneven. Sera herself is described as a Friend of Red Jenny, and so her joining the Inquisition was not purely altruistic. For her and her ‘friends’ to get to play around in the world, it has to go back to normal again, and this drives her motivations.

Finally, Mike Laidlaw has confirmed to a fan that players will get to choose to toggle helmet visibility.

@N7_acwells Yes, you can.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be out for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 on October 7, 2014.
