Star Wars: Battlefront 3 - Mod Your Way to the Dark Side?

Should DICE feature mods in their upcoming reboot?

by on 1st Aug, 2014

While DICE's latest games, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, did not feature modding support, could the studio's upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront

Battlefront has a heavier single player focus than Battlefield, after all, and if the popular Galactic Conquest mode returns it would be ripe for modding as YouTube channel Battlefront News! notes.

It looks like EA plans to release near the launch of Episode VII in late 2015 and while the game was always likely to be a success, launching when it is will surely cash in on the movie's hype. This will give EA plenty of incentive to have a wide range of DLC available on release day and in the months that follow, possibly making modding a unlikely prospect.

If the game does support mods, at least for single player, it could deter some players from going online. Even so, games like Minecraft and Skyrim continue to have huge numbers of players thanks in part to the active modding communities that continue to support them. The original Battlefront and its sequel are also played to this day and continue to be modded.

You can watch the video below. While it seems unlikely that the game will have mods officially, would you like to see them feature?
