Developer Black Forest Games has just confirmed with Nintendo Life that a sequel to Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is currently in the prototyping stages. Twisted Dreams was released first on Windows in 2012, with ports to Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U arriving the following year. It was very well received, prompting a new installment for the next generation of hardware.
Giana Sisters has a very fascinating history. The series began on Commodore 64 in 1987 with The Great Giana Sisters, a very blatant rip-off of Super Mario Bros. After a number of ports to other other gaming computers, Nintendo was able to have sales of the title halted. Fast forward to 2009, by which time Nintendo had lightened up to the point that it would allow Giana Sisters DS to launch on its portable. These days, you can't really tell that Giana Sisters had some dubious origins.
Giana Sisters 2 is targeting a late 2015, early 2016 release on PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U.
