Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes launched today in North America. To coincide with its release, GameStop has announced that it is now accepting trade-ins for near field communication game figures, like the ones used for Disney Infinity and Skylanders. Just like with software, you'll now be able to convert your hunks of plastic into store credit, which should be a blessing for parents of kids who have given up on those games only after amassing a treasure trove of miniature avatars.
Skylanders is already a billion-dollar franchise, and Disney is hoping that Infinity will become one as well now that the sequel is out. It's strange that it took GameStop this long to start dealing in used figurines, but now that it is, you can count on GameStop cashiers nationwide to start asking you for trade-ins even harder now.
In addition to the new Infinity, available now for Windows, Wii U, PS4, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 and next year for Vita, Skylanders: Trap Team will descend on October 5 for Wii U, Wii, 3DS, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. It's a safe assumption that Nintendo's amiibo figurines will be accepted as trade-ins too once those are released later this year.
