Destiny Guide: How to Get Unlimited Spinmetal and Endless Chests

September 30, 2014 by Stephen Daly

In Old Russia, chests respawn you.

Many of the armour and weapons found in Destiny require spinmetal, found only in the Old Russia area of the game, to be upgraded. These items can range from low level gear to legendary helmets and everything in between meaning its a useful material to have around.

Thankfully, YouTuber OrdyFilms has found a bug which leads to continually respawning spinmetal in the Rocketyard area of the game. In the courtyard area before the loot room (as opposed to the original loot cave), you'll find a spinmetal location beside a doorway and there will be a chest either inside the room beside it or on top of a nearby cabin.

It's important that everyone in your fireteam grabs the spinmetal and opens the chest at the same time for this to work. Once you've done both steps, hop on your sparrow and return to the Divide area of the Cosmodrone. This should activate the respawns for the spinmetal and chest. Sometimes it may be possible to unlock both chests.

You can see the bug in action below. If you don't have any items to upgrade, you can also collect the spinmetal and exchange it for glimmer and vanguard score back on the Tower.

We also have guides for the game's upgrade materials and chests, exotic armour, and dead Ghost locations.
