A month ago, we shared with you a Kickstarter for an upcoming indie game documentary called GameLoading: Rise of the Indies. As of this writing, the campaign is six days away from closing and still needs roughly AUD $19K (a little more than US $16,700). This particular Kickstarter isn't to actually film the movie, which has completed principal photography, but to master and edit the final footage. Pop on over and chip in a few bucks if you like learning about independent developers.
Now, one thing that filmmakers Lester Francois and Anna Brady have been doing lately is uploading short "extras" — standalone interviews about a specific subject. The latest video is about harassment of female game developers. I don't need to tell you just how much of a sensitive topic this has been lately, but it needs to be discussed openly and without hostility.
Above you'll find interviews with female indie devs Zoe Quinn, Catt Small, Phoenix Perry, and Nina Freeman. Before anyone thinks this was filmed as a direct response to the recent Gamergate controversy, please be aware that these interviews were conducted between March and May 2014, well before Gamergate kicked off.
