Star Wars Battlefront 3: EA Teases AT-AT Walker

March 26, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The AT-AT walker battles in Hoth may be one of the most recreated scenes in Star Wars video games.

The EA Star Wars account has shared a new teaser for Star Wars Battlefront 3, and we think you’ll be excited for this one.

On their official Twitter account, they shared brief footage of a snowspeeder zipping by before the giant foot of an AT-AT walker appears to smash the snows. This looks like it’s going to be in the trailer we’ll be seeing at Star Wars Celebration.

Well, that speeder isn't going anywhere. Can someone give us a lift to @SW_Celebration http://t.co/srEVrAA0zl #SWCA https://t.co/4W4LG8myke

The AT-AT walker is iconic, not only in the Star Wars universe, but particularly for Star Wars video games. It appears in the two Star Wars Battlefront games, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, yes, but it may surprise you to know that fighting the AT-AT walker is literally an iconic experience.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, published for the Atari VC/2600 in 1982 by Parker Bros, revolved exclusively on battling an AT-AT walker. If you are from a different generation, you may remember recreating the AT-AT battle on the Nintendo 64, either on Rogue Squadron or Shadows of the Empire. The AT-AT was there for the dawn of 2D and 3D gaming, even if many gamers did not even know about it.

The AT-AT walker battles in Hoth may be one of the most recreated scenes in Star Wars video games, second only to, of course, taking out the Death Star. It should be fun to see DICE’s take on one of the most popular scenarios in Star Wars video game history.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be released on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this coming holiday.
