3 Year Old Girl Shoots Herself - Mistakes Gun For Wii Controller

A 3 year old Tennessee girl from Wilson County accidentally killed herself, mistaking her step father's 0.380 caliber automatic pistol for a Wii contoller. The authorities are reporting that the girl shot herself in the abdomen and was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead that night.

The girl's mother was in the same room while her step father was sleeping in another room when the incident happened. Her step fathers claims he had taken out the gun because he heard a prowler earlier that evening and forgot it in the living room.

Leaving weapons within the reach of children is probably not an example of video game related accidents but more so an example of bad parenting, since, such incidents can be avoided by taking some basic preventive measures.
No charges were filed in the case.
