Fallout 4’s Progression And Combat Systems Have Changed For The Better, Here’s How

August 31, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

You won’t have to deal with an inconceivably large number of perks to study, and they didn’t stuff it with filler either.

We have some new details on Fallout 4, that will give you an idea of the depth and breadth of its RPG systems.

We earlier reported that there will be 270 perks in total. Bethesda has now clarified that it is 275 perks, but relax, you won’t have to deal with an inconceivably large number of perks to study, and they didn’t stuff it with filler either.

Instead, some of the perks have XP levels on their own. Every time you finish a level, you can choose to buy a new perk, or level up one of the perks you already earned. This adds to your total XP rank. If you remember buying and/or leveling up skills in Diablo 2, it’s exactly the same.

The combat system now allows you to play it by ear. If Fallout 3 required you level up and raise stats/gear etc, now you can get farther without doing so. There are choke points and places to take cover, encouraging tactical play, and every conceivable combat scenario has been described as ‘exhilarating’. You can also still choose to stealth it up, smash melee everyone, or play completely nonviolently.

Here are some of the confirmed weapons you can get:

·         Fat Man

·         Minigun

·         Plasma Weapons

·         Baseball Bat

·         Junk Jet – a gun which will allow players to fire any items such as trash at the enemies

·         Pipe Pistol – it has a capability to be updated to a rifle. It is made using springs and rusty metal pipes

It all adds up to more options, and an overall better experience.

Fallout 4 will be released on November 10, 2015, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
