BattleTech Brings Tactical Mech Combat Back to the PC

September 17, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Kickstarter for BattleTech is imminent.

There's a turn-based strategy BattleTech game on the way for the PC. Developed by the makers of the Shadowrun RPGs, Harebrained Schemes, BattleTech promises to deliver the first turn-based game in the BattleTech universe in over two decades. Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, will be leading its development.

For those not in the know, BattleTech is the universe in which the MechWarrior games are set.

BattleTech will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG 'Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the setting.

Like the Shadowrun games, BattleTech will be funded through Kickstarter. Unlike some other studios (*cough*Comcept*cough), Harebrained Schemes has a proven track record of delivering their games on time without asking for too much.

The Kickstarter campaign will launch on September 29 at 10am PDT. You can sign up for updates on the official website.
