OtherOS Supported on "3.21" courtesy Geohot?
A few days ago, Geohot vowed ps3 owners not to upgrade to 3.21 and said he's working on a workaround that will allow you to continue to play games online as well as keep your Linux partition.
Known for his exploits on the iPhone Geohot has definitely had his fair share of attention on the internet & this new development is sure to attract more. He posted a video on youtube demoing his custom 3.21 firmware hack while still having install OtherOS feature available in system settings. No release date for now but expect another announcement soon.

This can be installed without having to open up your PS3, just by restoring a custom generated PUP file, but only from 3.15 or previous. It's possible this CFW will also work on the slim to actually *enable* OtherOS; I'll know when my infectus gets here.

Note to the people who removed OtherOS, you are potentially turning 100000+ legit users into "hackers."

@PS3fan, not good. Linux rocks. Belittling it just gives more power to Microsoft and their Monopoly. Don't you like it when you can transfer data from one platform to another completely seamlessly? This is what Open Source is trying to achieve. Microsoft and Apple aren't interested in this and want to tie you in to paying a fortune for their systems only. Or are you a Microsoft IT "Professional"?
I, personally, haven't installed Linux on the PS3 because it needs the PowerPC version. Support for this chip is dwindling now that Apple have gone Intel and I can't be bothered to have yet another machine to manage. Still, for those that are using this, Sony need to leave it open. They've messed things around far too much already (ie backwards compatibility, locking the UMB to the PSP then complaining and abandoning it when it didn't take off).

Linux is the friend of all people and all jobs. Linuxs is light years ahead of Windows and if more people adopted it and the software developers started endorsing it, malware would be a thing of the past and the computing experience would be FAR greater for everyone. Closed source is your enemy. The closed source business model is one of complete greed and only hurts capitalism.
I think that if a game system will run Linux and then run the game fine still, then the game system needs to start thinking open source for it's developement platform finally...develop games for open source and you will have finally cornered the market...
