Uncharted 3 Sells 1.1 Million Copies in its First Week

November 8, 2011 by Mat Growcott

Rather healthy sales figures for the Sony juggernaut prove Uncharted is a key franchise.

Uncharted 3 has sold more than 1.1 million copies in its first week according to VGChartz, a respectable amount considering the sheer volume of games releasing this November. Despite releasing right between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, the Sony exclusive managed to beat out its predecessors week one sales by 30%.

360 fans have been quick to compare to Gears 3 and its 3 million sales week one and will no doubt be watching closely to see how Halo Anniversary sells in a few weeks time. It's difficult to compare the two directly given the different release times, anybody who says Uncharted 3 has done anything but incredibly well is probably trying far too hard.

The 1.1 million puts Uncharted 3 as the 4th biggest exclusive launch on the PS3 – behind Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid 4 and God of War 3, all far more established series – and the 12th biggest launch total.
