Hyrulecraft Brings The Ocarina of Time to Minecraft

January 23, 2012 by Josh Harmon

Two great games that taste great together.

I'd like to propose an addendum to monkeys with typewriters rule: given enough time, a room full of Minecraft fans will build a scale replica of everything that has ever existed, real or fictional. Exhibit A: Hyrulecraft, a painstaking recreation of the entire game world from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

GenGame's got a trailer of the map's alpha release, with footage from dozens of the included areas. Despite added blockiness, it's all surprisingly recognizable and nostalgia-inducing, especially the ridiculously impressive rendition of Kakariko Village, complete with windmill.

If you're interested in giving it a shot, you can download the alpha version of the map here. The team is also running a multiplayer server with the map at 64.79.106.218, in case you'd like poke around with some company. Apparently they've got a whole lot more planned, including quests and dungeons that turn the project from a simple custom map into a full on MMO.
