Mouse and Keyboard Support for all PS3 Games using Eagle Eye

Platforms : PS3
Published : 7th Jun, 2010
Eagle-Eye aims to give PS3 owners the same level of accuracy in controls enjoyed by PC gamers

Penguin United will soon be launching a new product known as "Eagle-Eye" which will allow PS3 owners to seamlessly use standard keyboard and mouse for playing fps games with the same accuracy and dexterity as enjoyed by PC gamers. Many console gamers might argue otherwise but this seems like a welcome alternative for PC gamers looking to get some action on console exclusive games with familiar controls for a few extra bucks.

Check out the demonstration video below

Richard Huang, President of Penguin United said,

One of the drawbacks with playing first-person shooters is the lack of speed and accuracy offered by traditional controllers. We found a simple solution by bypassing the controller and transferring the button features directly to the computer keyboard and mouse. The Eagle-Eye offers an amazing alternative for fans of shooting games.
One of the most impressive features about the Eagle-Eye is the accuracy and effectiveness converted to the computer mouse, with a 1 to 1 translation from a PS3 controller to the mouse.

Product Highlights:
+ Converts any standard USB HID Keyboard and Mouse into a PS3 Controller
+ Adjust Mouse sensitivity through the game's option menu.
+ 1 to 1 translation from the PS3 right analog stick to the mouse movement for an ultra accurate aim in FPS.
+ Maps out all PS3 buttons and left analog stick via included software to customize your control. Right analog stick defaults to mouse movement.
+ Compatible with all PS3 games.
+ USB 2.0 Keyboard and Mouse inputs.
+ 2 ft. USB cable connects to PS3.
+ Turbo option for X, triangle, square, circle, L1, L2, R1, R2 buttons
+ Programmable Macro Functions to turn any single key into a combination of moves.
+ Compatible with all PS3 console versions, future proof with firmware updates.
+ Quick, easy set up in less than 1 minute with included software
+ SRP: $59.99

@FreakyDeaky

Ever think that it's not the eagle eye that sucks? you probably have to use a more sensitive (i.e. less crappy) mouse with it. Try not to instantly assume that the developers are morons. It's probably you.

My Eagle Eye arrived today. What a piece of crap! The mouse sensitivity is so bad I have to scroll all the way across the mouse pad 2 times just to turn 45 degrees, and that's with the sensitivity turned all the way up in the games. I tried it on 4 different games and it was the same on all of them. Not only that, but in order to map the keyboard keys to the controller buttons you have to hook it up to your PC. This wouldn't be a big deal if every game had the exact same button mappings, but nearly every game is different, so you have to hook it up to your PC to remap the keys almost every time you play a different game. It does allow you to have 2 different mappings, but most people own more than 2 games.

Scared of suddenly getting owned by players who can finally play a FPS game the way it is meant to be played... oh no. If people are so good with the controller, then *GET BETTER* at playing with the controller. If you can't get better at playing with the controller no matter how good of an FPS-gamer you are, then what does that tell you? Try riding your bike with trainer wheels and two flat tires to see what it's like from my perspective to play FPS games with a controller.

Seems like people are either afraid of having to buy this uber-machine or that the challenge is gonna be much greater. I'm looking forward of getting something like this if it works, because I suck with a controller but owns with the keyboard+mouse. I just don't wanna sit in the corned in front of my 22" computer-screen when theres a 46" + ps3 just a phew meters away with a nice couch and more room.

@ron Oh, if you meant precision movement left/right/forward/back for sneaking and stuff, I find that is not even an issue at all. I can still sneak around by tapping the keys, or crouching and moving, or in some games, you can even hold down a key to 'walk'.

@ron It is true that 'wasd' has 1 speed only, but in a mouse/keyboard setup, 'a d' controls the strafing (side-stepping left or right) and 'w s' controls the forward and back movement. The aiming reticle/xhair is controlled by the mouse. Thus you can move the xhair as slowly or as fast as you want with the mouse, while simultaneously moving with the 'w a s d' keys.

how can u have proportional movement using w a s d on a keyboard. with a stick... lightly moving the stick a little bit will move slowly, while cranking it all the way will move faster... and this is not possible with a keyboard.. with w a s d its just 1 speed which = stiff. there is a reason the frag fx and fragentstein etc devices use a stick for movement instead of keys... mouse is better for aim. stick is better for movement

Crap.. as stated above , there isnt enough hacks and super controllers out there to make the playing field on any FPS as uneaven as humanly possible, now we have this, which is just going to make me want to go back to my NES.
