Planetside 2 Factions, Skill Trees, Outfits Explained

March 7, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

Planetside 2 seems to be shaping into a true contender in the MMO space. Read on to find out more!

planetside 2

For those of you unfamiliar with what Planetside 2 actually is, this may seem a bit redundant – Just another MMO to fall down to World of Warcraft right? Well, PS2 is different in that it is an MMOFPS. It’s bringing the best parts of the FPS world into the MMO realm, which is a mix we haven’t seen fruitful harvests from since…well…ever. The game will feature three factions, each wielding their own unique traits, weapons, and culture. We’ve listed them here for you:

Terran Republic  – A militant race of people, the Terrans look to conquer any and all who would stand in their way through whatever means necessary. Their thirst for authority seems to stop at nothing.

New Conglomerate – The rebels of Planetside 2, the New Conglomerate is a group of ragtag fighters looking to impose their ideas on the world through guerrilla warfare and subterfuge.

Vanu Sovereignty – A race of people who look to improve humanity by means of technology – just just any technology, though: the lost workings of the Vanu.

The game will also feature what has come to be common fashion in the MMO space: skill trees. Players will be able to forge their own role into the mysteries of PS2. You’ll be able to use these to support your Outfit, or guild. Another commonplace to the MMO name, guilds are ways for like-minded players to gather and help one another through commerce, warfare, or coercion.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on this game early, then go grab the April issue of PC Gamer. Enclosed is a beta key, and when the beta goes live, you can enter it on the official website to gain access to said beta.
