Splinter Cell: Blacklist Combines Old Gameplay with the New

June 4, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

The presentation of Splinter Cell: Blacklist shows off gameplay elements both old and new.

A group of rogue nations have masterminded the Blacklist, a list that targets American interests.

Sam Fisher must capture a terrorist leader in Afghanistan named Jadio to prevent the next Blacklist attack. The gameplay that they showed at the event looks a lot like Splinter Cell: Conviction's with many more stealth elements than its predecessor. You can mark and take out enemies in slow motion, and hide behind cover.

The new game also sees the addition of vertical traversal from the Assassin's Creed series.

The game even uses Microsoft Kinect, which allows you to distract guards by calling them out. Fisher can also call in fire support from Grimsdottir with his voice.

The demo also showed off a bit of environment interaction as Fisher electrocuted two guards standing in the water by tossing an electrical device at them.

The trailer ends with Sam Fisher calling in a UAV on his location as a distraction to his extraction.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist ships in Spring 2013.
