If you're one of the many people who hate Battlefield 3's "carrot-on-a-stick" scheme of leveling up, then do we have good news for you. DICE has announced that they're conducting a double XP event this coming weekend and it will be on all platforms.
The event will be available on all maps and all modes as long as it's a ranked server. Oh, and you don't need to be Battlefield Premium member either!

What: Double XP event to celebrate the launch of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters
When: 00:01 AM PDT June 16th – 11:59 PM PDT June 17th
Formats: All
Criteria: All players, both Premium and non-Premium members
Servers: Any ranked server
Game modes: Any
Maps: Any (including base game, Back to Karkand, and Close Quarters)
What: Double everything!
World Time Reference on When it Starts
Los Angeles: 00:01 June 16
London: 8:01 AM June 16
Stockholm: 9:01 AM June 16
Tokyo: 4:01 PM June 16
Also of note, Battlefield Premium is now available on the PC and Xbox 360. So, if you want to unlock gun attachments, dog tags and the sort, I suggest clearing your weekend to get as much of that double XP love as you can.
