With the announcement of Battlefield 4, people speculated that DICE might have "killed" off both Mirror's Edge 2 and Bad Company 3 to work straight away on EA"s new cash cow.
Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case, as DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach confirms (via IGN) that both games aren't killed off and they would never kill of something "that good."
Speaking about Mirror's Edge, Bach states the IP is something, ""we love, and of course we haven't killed it, because it's too good to kill."
This same sentiment also applies to the Battlefield spin-off series — Bad Company.
"The Bad Company IP is still something we love," Bach adds, "and it’s very dear to me because I worked on both titles. We have no information with where we are to a sequel to Bad Company, so I can’t tell you anything about that IP."
In addition to those statements, Bach admits that the Swedish studio is also working on "other projects" that's not named Battlefield 4. Unfortunately, Bach declined to comment if it's a new IP, a sequel to a beloved franchise or maybe Battlefield 5.
So, Mirror's Edge 2 and Bad Company 3 eventually confirmed, then? I gather a lot of people will be happy if that happens.
What would you want DICE to work on next after Battlefield 4? If Battlefield 4 sells as well as EA hopes, it wouldn't surprise me if it really is Battlefield 5.
