You Want a Resident Evil 2 Remake? Tell Capcom
Capcom says if you want it bad enough, maybe they’ll make it
Speaking to Gamespot, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi talked a bit about a Resident Evil 2 remake. The game had rumors flying around it for months.
"Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now," Hirabayashi said.
But don't be disappointed just yet, because Hirabayashi also added, "But if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration."
Resident Evil 2 was a critical and commercial success, averaging 89 out of 100 points on Metacritic. Electronic Gaming Monthly, IGN, Game Informer and the Official UK PlayStation Magazine included Resident Evil 2 in their lists of top 100 best games. In 2011 GameTrailers ranked it fourth on a list of games that most needed remakes. There have been numerous fan requests for in past years but so far out of the early games only its predecessor was already remade back in 2008 for the Gamecube.
Resident Evil 6 is coming up this fall, but many Resident Evil fans are extremely wary of it. The series has definitely had its ups and downs in the past. There also won't be any Wii U version of Resident Evil 6 and development on the PC has only just begun. But the game will be out October 2nd for PS3 and Xbox 360.
