Dishonored Has Gone “Gold,” Bethesda Doing a Giveaway to Commemorate It

September 28, 2012 by Alex Co

Arkane Studios’ Dishonored is finally ready to be manufactured! To commemorate the occasion, Bethesda will be giving away a mask and a copy of the game to one lucky fan.

Bethesda has announced that Arkane Studios' upcoming first-person action game has gone "gold." If you're unfamiliar with the term, when a game goes gold, it means everything concerning the development side is finished and the game is ready to be pressed and manufactured for a retail release.

According to Bethesda, the game went through more than three years of development, 30+ versions of the game (accounting for different languages, countries, and platforms) are now ready for release. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Bethesda will be giving an "extremely limited" Overseer mask away, in addition to a signed copy of the game. If you're wondering, the mask is the one in the headline pic and sadly, it's not made of real gold.

If you're planning on participating, head on over here to read the contest rules and how to enter.

Dishonored is a first-person action game that has its protagonist named Corvo going after his killer even though he's already dead. It's a first-person action game that focuses more on stealth and using your supernatural powers to get back at your enemies. Based on what we've seen so far, the game looks to be the sleeper hit of the year.

Dishonored is scheduled to ship on October 9 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
