According to this report, one Call of Duty player made it clear that he does not take defeat quite well. Just ask his opponent seventeen year old Rafael Castillo who was the latest victim of a "swatting" prank that brought helicopters, emergency vehicles, and an army of cops on his doorstep.
The sore loser probably managed to obtain the details of his opponent via tracing the latter's IP address and called the police over Skype posing as Rafael Castillo, the player who beat him. "I just killed my mother and I might shoot more people," the prankster told the cops in addition to disclosing Castillo's home address.
The police didn't want to take risks by not taking this call seriously, so they sent more than 60 armed officers to the scene in addition to helicopters and other emergency vehicles. It was a costly and an especially dangerous prank since people could have been hurt for nothing.
Apparently, cops tried to get Castillo's attention for 20 minutes but he didn't notice them because he was using his headphones playing Call of Duty. Emergency services still rushed in to ensure everything was alright despite seeing the mother and other household members alive and well. The police also confiscated Castillo's computer for precaution.
No word yet on the identity of this vile prankster, but the police are trying to track him down by tracing his elecrtronic footprints. We hope that whoever this person is realizes that "swatting" isn't a prank worth doing. It is a pranking game wherein people get points for the amount of response and intensity that comes from calling the SWAT team on someone. It is an elaborate yet extremely dangerous prank.
