Yes, we all know that HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the greatest villains in film history. Yes, he has inspired many other famous characters, such as the sarcastic GLaDOS from Portal. But wouldn't you like a game that provides a much more personal interaction with a HAL-inspired construct? That's what Event[0] is offering.
Though you'll be able to explore a derelict spaceship in first-person, the game also has a lot in common with classic text adventures from the '80s. You'll communicate with the ship's AI by typing commands and questions directly on your keyboard — naturally, the AI starts acting more than a little threatening towards you as time rolls on. Just as in the old text games with their freeform commands, I can imagine players might have difficulty getting the computer to recognize certain phrases. It all depends on how well the full game comes together.
The development team doesn't have a proper group name currently, but one of its members is Sergey Mohov, level designer for Tequila Works' Rime. Until more details about the Event[0] surface, you can read a prequel story here.
