Ubisoft has another big game launch next week — The Crew arrives for Windows, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on December 2. Of course, players are nervous about an Assassin's Creed Unity-like situation in which the game is riddled with inexcusable performance issues. Surprising nobody, the development team assures fans that the ride will be smooth sailing.
The Crew's lead designer, Serkan Hasan, told The Metropolist that he has "confidence in the stability of the game and its performance," which is targetting 1080p and 30fps on both PS4 and Xbox One. The game's beta has helped to make this goal a supposed reality:
For The Crew, we’ve reaped the benefits of a long term beta program, designed specifically to push our infrastructure as far as possible in real world situations, with thousands of players from all over the world playing the game at the same time.
Of course, this heavy online initiative means that Ubisoft isn't allowing reviewers to rate the game until after launch, which was one of the criticisms people had with Unity. Even if the reason for a delay in reviews has merit this time, players still feeling the sting from Unity won't see the situation the same way. They have every right to be worried, considering Ubisoft's recent track record, and no amount of reassurances will make them feel otherwise.
